What is STEM?
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. In STEM class, students will be presented with story motivated, industry relevant STEM challenges/units that will build student capacity in problem solving, critical thinking, and engineering & scientific skills using the Engineering Design Process (EDP).
STEM CLUB
Take your love of STEM activities to the next level. STEM club meets one day a week after school from 3:20p - 5:00p. STEM club builds robots, fly drones, design and make things, and compete. The 2025-2026 STEM club schedule is:
Tuesdays (a mix of male and female students)
Wednesdays (female students only)
Thursdays (a mix of male and female students but is only males right now)
Students apply and if accepted will request one of the above days to meet. The day will be decided by the instructor based on the number of students meeting on a day. We try to balance so we don't have too many on one day. Students in sports, etc. can request a day change if necessary. If possible we will try to meet all requests. Attendance is never mandatory. The club fee is $50, which we request to be paid via QR code that will be provided if your application is approved. Please carefully read the application before submitting, as it is binding. You will need two teacher recommendations. Discipline is considered when determining if an application will be approved.
STEM Class Safety
Students in STEM class will be completing hands-on activities. In many of these activities, students will design, then build a prototype. This may require the use of tools that have the potential to cause injury to a student. Therefore, before being allowed to work on any hands-on activity, students must learn about safety and pass a safety test with 100% accuracy, and must return the STEM Student Safety Contract signed by the student and the parent/guardian.
