Rutherford cheerleaders bring home world, national cheer titles

Cheer teams from Rutherford County Schools competed at the Universal Cheerleaders Association’s (UCA) National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando earlier this month.

Rockvale Middle returned from the contest as national and world champions in Junior High Non-Tumbling. Blackman High captured its 11th national title in the Small Co-Ed Division, while Riverdale brought home the Large Varsity Non-Tumbling Game Day Division I title.

UCA results, provided by the schools, are listed below.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOLS

Blackman: Middle School Large Division, fourth place

Christiana: Competed in Junior High Non-Tumbling

Eagleville: Junior High Non-Tumbling Game Day, 12th place

Oakland: Junior High Non-Tumbling, fifth in nation

Rockvale: Junior High Non-Tumbling National and World Champions

Siegel: Junior High Non-Tumbling Gameday, fifth in nation

Stewarts Creek: Junior High Non-Tumbling, 13th place

 

HIGH SCHOOLS

Blackman: Small Co-Ed Division Champion (11th title)

Central Magnet: Non Tumbling Division II, sixth place

Oakland: Small Varsity Non-Tumbling, 13th nationally

Riverdale: Large Varsity Non-Tumbling Game Day DI - National Champions

Rockvale: Division I Large Varsity, eighth place

Siegel: Small Varsity Non-Tumbling, third place

Smyrna High competed at the National Cheerleaders Association annual contest in Dallas, Texas in late January. The team finished second in Small Co-Ed Game Day and eighth in Small Coed Intermediate Crowd Leading.
