About Me

Hello! I am proud to have been at Rockvale Middle School since we first opened in August 2008. When I first began my journey to become a school counselor, I knew I wanted to work in Rockvale. When I discovered that Rockvale Middle School would open shortly after my anticipated graduation from the School Counseling program at Middle Tennessee State University, I felt like I was destined to work here. Prior to working here, I was the School Counselor at Holloway High School and I worked as the Freshman Counselor at Siegel High School.

Education is acually my third career. While I was in college, I worked as a Dialysis Technician. This was my full-time job as I attended Columbia State Community College and Middle Tennessee State University off-and-on for about 10 years, finally earning a Bachelor of Science on Sociolgy. After that, I worked as a Mental Health Specialist at Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital. My work at Vanderbilt included leading group meetings and one-on-one counseling, mostly with adolescents and children. My passion for working with young people grew and I decided to pursue a Masters degree in School Counseling. After beginning my career with Rutherford County Schools, I continued to work part-time at Vanderbilt until 2014. The decision to work as a school counselor is the best career decision I have made!

I love my work and I am fortunate to work in the best school on the planet. We have amazing leadership and, as a result, we have attracted a fantastic group of educators. For many of us, this is not just where we work - it is a home away from home. Our second family is here at Rockvale Middle School.
