2025 Rockvale Middle School

Volleyball Summer Schedule

Summer practice is not optional, if your daughter makes the team they must attend EVERY summer practice. Missing practice for other sports during our season is unacceptable. Commitment to the team is their priority.  Please keep in mind if practice starts at 8:30, that means your daughter is in the gym ready to go BEFORE 8:30; we will open the gym doors 15 minutes prior to practice.  All practices are at Rockvale Middle School and players need to be dropped off at the back of the school.  Athletes need; their assigned t-shirt, shorts, kneepads, water/Gatorade and appropriate footwear every day.  We encourage athletes to bring sweats/long pants and perhaps a long sleeve shirt to wear during lunch time.

This summer we will be having some two a days; your daughter needs to be dropped off in the morning, with a sack lunch or snack.  We will be spending the lunch and afternoon time, team building.   Please make sure your daughter comes into the building with their lunch, and we do not have to interrupt our practices for lunches being delivered.

10-12 Varsity players will be attending the MTSU Middle school team camp. These days are not optional for the varsity players.

  • Mandatory attendance Monday through Friday, starting after the Dead Period in July from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
  • Important note: If you have a vacation planned during this time, this may not be the right year for you to try out.

Volleyball Fee:

  • The fee for volleyball is $175.

School Year Practice:

  • Practices will be held Sunday through Thursday:
    • Sunday: 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM
    • Monday to Thursday: 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
    • Varsity only: A few morning practices from 6:00 AM to 7:15 AM before school.
  • Attendance is mandatory for all practices.

Game Days:

  • Games will be held Mondays, Wednesdays, and some Fridays starting at 4:30 PM, with Varsity playing first.
  • Mandatory attendance for all players for both Varsity and JV games.
  • Transportation: Players are responsible for their own transportation to and from games.

Playing Time:

  • Making the volleyball team does not guarantee playing time.
  • Playing time is earned through hard work, improvement, hustle, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Note: If you are concerned about playing time, a club team may be a better option for you.

Parent Involvement:

  • Parents are required to line judge for home games and possibly for away tournament games.

This program is about commitment and teamwork. If you're ready to dedicate yourself, bring your best attitude, and work together with your teammates, this could be the year for you!

The best way to continue developing volleyball skills is to play on club volleyball teams.
